4-2-3-1: Manchester United XI vs Liverpool – Varela & Memphis return

Manchester United’s attentions turn to the Europa League this midweek, as the club goes head-to-head with Liverpool in a continental competition for the first time. Both sides go into the game on the back of a defeat, but will be hoping to change things over two legs here.

Ahead of the game we’ve decided to have a look at the best potential line-up for that match, and it contains a couple of changes from the last side which took to the field.

Obviously David de Gea will continue in goal, with a back two of Daley Blind and Chris Smalling in front of him. Marcos Rojo will start as the left-back, and Guillermo Varela simply has to come back into the side in place of Matteo Darmian.

Another man who must come back into the fold is Morgan Schneiderlin as he and Ander Herrera had begun to form a nice partnership in the middle of the field.

Jesse Lingard will start on the right with Juan Mata in the middle, Memphis Depay has to come into the team in place of Marcus Rashford. Anthony Martial will start as the lone striker.
