Manchester United are now sitting six points off a spot in the top four, and although the performance away at Chelsea was great, the result, eventually, was a disappointment. Its now time for Louis van Gaal to get back to winning ways away at Sunderland.
Ahead of the game Louis van Gaal has been given a timely boost with the return of Phil Jones, and the manager has always liked that pairing of Jones and Smalling at the back. It’d also be good to give Daley Blind a much-needed rest. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Matteo Darmian have to continue in the full-back slots.
Marouane Fellaini did well at Stamford Bridge alongside Michael Carrick, so it’d seem foolish to split those two up here. Juan Mata will continue in the #10 slot, with Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial either side of him. Wayne Rooney will continue to lead the line.
