Manchester United Football Club turns their attentions to the semi-final of the EFL Trophy tomorrow evening, when Hull City visit Old Trafford under new management after the sacking of Mike Phelan. The match is the first of two legs, where the Red Devils will be hoping to build up some sort of lead.
With Jose Mourinho heavily resting his star names against Reading, you’d fully expect the gaffer to name a supremely strong starting eleven for this one. In goal, David de Gea will get the nod, and he’ll have the English duo if Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in front of him, fresh off of Marcos Rojo’s injury. Antonio Valencia will start as the right-back, with Matteo Darmian likely to come back in as the left-back.
Onto the midfield then, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba both come back into the starting eleven. Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata should both start, and it’d also be great to see Henrikh Mkhitaryan get the nod. Obviously, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will lead the line.
