4-2-3-1: Manchester United’s predicted XI vs Southampton – Tuanzebe at centre-back

Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four and acquiring a spot in the Champions League via Premier League position is over. However, we still have two games to play and first up, a potentially tricky game out on the South Coast; against Southampton.

Let’s take a look at the starting line-up for this one, then, and we should see a blend between regular starters and rotational players, as our build-up for the big finale gets going.

David de Gea will start in goal, and I think we will see Axel Tuanzebe start at centre-half, alongside Daley Blind, after a horrendous display from both Phil Jones and Chris Smalling yet again. Antonio Valencia will come back into the side, with Matteo Darmian making up the back four.

Ander Herrera got some well-earned rest at the weekend, and he should come back into the mix here due to his energy and work rate. Paul Pogba’s father tragically passed away just before the weekend, and we should give him all the time off that he needs, so Michael Carrick will continue. Juan Mata will start just in front of the aforementioned duo.

Marcus Rashford will get the chance to come back into the mix on the left-hand side, allowing Anthony Martial to get a good run in the team as the striker. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is out of form right now and he should get the chance to start as the right-winger.
