Although Champions League qualification isn’t mathematically guaranteed, it’d take a miracle for Manchester United to miss out. Jose Mourinho’s men currently sit top of their group, with four wins out of five fixtures.
The last match takes place at Old Trafford against CSKA Moscow, in a game where we may see Jose Mourinho make changes – particularly with the Manchester derby just on the horizon.
Ahead of the game, we’ve tried to work out exactly what starting XI we’ll see, and this is what we’ve come up with… Before that though, the manager has already confirmed that both Paul Pogba and Sergio Romero will play.
Predicted Man United XI vs CSKA Moscow
So as stated earlier, David de Gea will get the day off and Argentine Romero will start in goal. Victor Lindelof has looked super recently, so he deserves to continue. It’ll also be good for Marcos Rojo to start as he builds up his fitness levels once again. Ashley Young will shift to the right-hand side, with Matteo Darmian coming in at the left-back slot.
Pogba will play, with Ander Herrera coming back into the mix. This pairing should have more than enough to overpower the Russian team, particularly with Juan Mata sitting just in front of them.
Marcus Rashford has been benched over the last couple of games so I fully expect him to get minutes under his belt. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been in the doghouse recently, don’t be surprised if he starts. Anthony Martial will lead the line, keeping Romelu Lukaku fresh for the derby.
