4-3-3: Likely Manchester United XI to take on City in the derby – Herrera starts

Well, the time is here folks. I can certainly think of Manchester derbies that I’ve been more excited for, that’s a definite…

However, if ever Jose Mourinho’s men needed motivation, they’ve got it. The Red Devils have the opportunity to delay City’s title parade, and beating them would be a nice little confidence-booster.

Anyway, we’ve tried to decipher the mind of Mourinho and work out what starting line-up he’s likely to go with. Trust me, it wasn’t easy…

Check out the starting line-up here:

The easiest player to pick is the goalkeeper. David de Gea will obviously start, and he’ll have to be at his brilliant best if we’re to take all three points away from The Etihad.

Then you have the back four. Antonio Valencia will play at right-back, with Ashley Young starting on the opposite flank after some excellent displays. Chris Smalling’s form has improved recently, he’ll partner Eric Bailly at the back.

I expect Mourinho to pack the midfield and limit the space for City’s attacking talents. Nemanja Matic will sit at the base, with Ander Herrera likely to be tasked with doing a man-marking job on Kevin de Bruyne. Paul Pogba makes up the trio and we’ll need a world-class display from him.

At this moment in time, the front three pretty much picks itself. Alexis Sanchez put in his best performance in a red shirt last time out so he’ll start. Jesse Lingard will play on the right, with Romelu Lukaku leading the line andl= looking to continue his excellent form.
