4-3-3: Manchester United potential XI vs Northampton – Romero starts

Manchester United’s attentions turn to the newly-renamed EFL Cup tomorrow evening, with a trip to Northampton Town on the cards. The game won’t be easy, particularly as Jose Mourinho’s men go into it on the back of two tough losses that would’ve been hard to take.

It’s a game that Jose Mourinho will still obviously want to win, and it’s a big day out for Northampton Town who won’t go down without a fight. We’ve tried to decipher Jose’s mind and work out our starting line-up.

Sergio Romero will likely get his first start of the season in goal, which is a great opportunity for the Argentine to prove his worth. In front oh him we’ll see Timothy Fosu-Mensah partnered with Daley Blind. Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian will play as left and right-back respectively.

Michael Carrick should get his chance in the holding midfielder role, and he’ll have Ander Herrera and Juan Mata in front of him. The front three is exciting, and filled with bags of pace. Memphis Depay, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford all start.
