4-3-3: Manchester United predicted XI vs Real Madrid – Fred’s first start

Manchester United’s pre-season tour has been a pretty dire one thus far, but the experts will tell you it’s more about fitness than anything else.

Jose Mourinho’s men have put in some worrying performances nonetheless. It’s the manner in which the games have been played. You’d think the lads would have gone out and had fun, instead, they’ve sat back and rarely attacked.

Anyway, next up is Real Madrid, and pre Los Blancos, we’ve decided to try and take a closer look at the Manchester United predicted XI. Check it out below.

In goal, veteran Lee Grant gets the nod, although expect Joel Pereira to play 45 minutes, too. Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly haven’t trained recently, so it’ll be down to the young partnership of Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah. Matteo Darmian’s the only fit right-back on tour, with Luke Shaw to play on the left.

Against a side like Madrid, you simply have to pack the midfield. Scott McTominay will play at the base. Ander Herrera also starts. Fred makes up the trio, and it’ll be intriguing to see how our new man gets on during his first start.

Alexis Sanchez leads the line. He’s been wonderful playing as the out-and-out front-man. Who knows, he may get more opportunities there as the season goes on. Juan Mata will start, as will Andreas Pereira. He’s been United’s bright-spark of the tour.
