4-3-3: Predicted Man United XI vs Chelsea – Rashford out wide

Manchester United have to bounce back. The Red Devils’ were well-beaten at home to Paris Saint-Germain last time out, which was the first poor result under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Unfortunately for the Baby Faced Assassin, the games don’t get any easier. A trip to Chelsea in the FA Cup will really test United’s mental toughness – and with the injuries piling up, the loss could’t have come at a worse time.

Perhaps the FA Cup is now United’s best chance at scooping a trophy this term so with that in mind I’d be surprised if we didn’t go as full strength as possible for this one. Let’s dive right in to the predicted line-up.

David de Gea will start in goal and I suspect he’ll be a busy man. We always tend to struggle at Stamford Bridge so this time around we should expect no different.

Victor Lindelof has been by far and away our best defender this term, he deserves to start. Phil Jones may come back into the time in place of Eric Bailly. Luke Shaw’s now established as the first-choice left-back, while Ashley Young has done likewise over on the other side.

Nemanja Matic will want to head back to his old hunting ground and put in an impressive performance to send out a message, while you know exactly what you’re going to get out of Ander Herrera. Paul Pogba will play. He’ll be looking to put in a better shift than he did on Tuesday.

With injuries decimating the squad, Juan Mata will also head back to his old home as he’ll start on the right. Opposite him, Marcus Rashford will play on the wing as he’s our only other senior player capable of playing out there due to injuries. Romelu Lukaku comes in and will start as the main front man.
