Manchester United Football Club start their pre-season tour during the early hours of Friday morning, with a game against Club America.
Jose Mourinho has named an extremely youthful travelling party, largely due to the Red Devils’ participation in the World Cup; with no fewer than twelve players competing in Russia.
That has given the chance to players who probably wouldn’t usually get one. Now, it’s their time to show the self-proclaimed Special One what they can do. With the tour games getting significantly more difficult as it progresses, I assume it’ll be the early fixtures when we’ll get a glimpse of some stars of the future.
With that in mind, let’s run you through our first predicted line-up of the 2018/19 campaign.
Predicted Manchester United XI vs Club America:
First up, we have new-boy Lee Grant in goal. The former Stoke City shot-stopper will be excited to make his debut, with Mourinho likely to give him his chance at the first opportunity. He’ll have arguably United’s best back to of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling just in front of him. Luke Shaw will play on the left, with Diogo Dalot, another new face, starting on the right.
Onto the midfield. This is an area where numbers are particularly limited. Scott McTominay will play, as will a well-rested Ander Herrera. Tahith Chong could make up the trio, in a more advanced role.
Anthony Martial will lead the line. Heck, he’s the only recognised, senior forward within the squad at the moment. Andreas Pereira will play on the left, with superstar talent Angel Gomes making up the line-up.
