659 Million Reds On The Planet

Today, Manchester United released information claiming that nearly one in every ten people on the globe supports our illustrious club. The last time this research was done, back in 2007, it showed that we had approximately 330million fans and in the past five years that figure has nearly doubled and now stands at 659million.

Our nearest rivals are Catalan giants Barcelona, but they are nowhere near us, with approximately half the support that we have. Richard Arnold, our commercial director, believes that the depth of support has helped our commercial incomes soar.

“Our family of followers has doubled in five years and across the world this represents a very, very important asset and relationship for the club,” said Arnold.

A lot of our fans come from far East Asia with 108million fans based in China, 55million from Indonesia, and 35million living in India. This is coupled with data that shows more and more fans are emerging from North and South America, with 24million Mexicans following the reds and a further 34million from North America.

Since our training kit deal with DHL was struck up earlier this season, sales for that particular kit have soared and it is now the fourth-highest selling kit worldwide. It’s astounding to think that our training kit is selling more than kits of the biggest names in world football.
