A difficult year for Javier Hernandez

Manchester United had one of the worst seasons in their history and it was not easy for any player, especially for the ones who were left on the bench with no opportunity to help the team. Now that Louis van Gaal has been named boss however, it could be a different story next season.

According to SportsBettingDime.com, the Red Devils are listed with 7.0 odds to win the title next season while local rivals City are heavy favourites with 2.88 available if you fancy them to secure the title next year.

The Old Trafford team finished in the seventh place of the table with 64 points and they will not participate in the next edition of the Champions League for the first time in nineteen years – a bitterly disappointing result, that’ll certainly hit home when the draw is being made early next season.

One of the players who had very few minutes this year was Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, who finished his fourth season with the team. “Chicharito” had 24 appearances in the Premier League and only scored four goals, his fewest in England.

Hernandez, who is the third best scorer in the history of El Tri, came off the bench in other tournaments when he was required. In the FA Cup, he scored in one match played while in the Capital One Cup he got four scores in five meetings. The Mexican played a total of 35 games, 12 as a starter, and scored nine goals.

“This campaign I could not help my team because I did not play much, so it was difficult because I saw them lose many matches.” Hernandez said. “To do anything in life, you need confidence and opportunities, if you don’t have opportunities, it’s complicated, but I never say no to a challenge.”

It remains uncertain the future of the Mexican at Old Trafford because there have been many rumors about his departure. With the arrival of a new coach, more changes could continue in the red squad, joining the departures of defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

The striker will be one of the important players of Mexico’s national team during the World Cup Brazil 2014, so a good performance could open the door in other teams who can offer him a starting lineup spot and more time on the field.
