Manchester United Football Club had a poor summer transfer window. Jose Mourinho may well be working hard to try and improve upon things when the January window opens.
One name linked with a potential Old Trafford switch is Aaron Ramsey. The Arsenal man is out-of-contract next summer. It looked as though he was all set to sign a new deal, but The Gunners retracted their offer. With time winding down, their last opportunity to get transfer value for the midfielder is January.
While on international duty, Ramsey was asked about the situation. Like the consummate professional he is, the 27-year-old sounded as if he plans on finishing the season wearing Arsenal red. He spoke excellently, positively and calmly.
“I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special.” the Welshman is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“Everything has been going great with the club.
“We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case.
“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season, and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.”
“That’s a decision [Arsenal] have made and things happen in football.
“You just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can. That’s all I am concentrating on and giving my best for Arsenal.”
I mean sure, he’s hardly going to come out and demand a transfer, but the way he spoke, he was extremely convincing. The first thing you have to note is how well Ramsey is handling it. He is exactly the sort of player you’d want at your club. The midfielder would cause no trouble whatsoever, whatever is happening behind the scenes.
Then you look at his ability. Why not make the move for a top player in a cut-price deal? He’s right in his prime and just desperate to play. There is nothing more dangerous in football than a player with a point to prove. Ramsey would come to United hungry, committed, and ready to win. I love the idea.
