Aaron Wan-Bissaka is Man United’s first-choice right-back target: report

Earlier today, we covered a story from Belgium media outlet La Derniere Heure, which claimed that Manchester United are closing in on a move to sign Thomas Meunier from Paris Saint-Germain.

Shortly after that report surfaced, another from the Daily Mail closely followed. Their article backed up the Reds’ proposed interest in Meunier, who is valued at £22million.

However, the Daily Mail went on to claim that 21-year-old Crystal Palace right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ‘first choice’ option in that area of the field.

The problem with that is United are becoming frustrated due to Crystal Palace’s £60million valuation of Wan-Bissaka, who enjoyed a stellar breakthrough campaign in 2018/19.

Understandably, United are sick of being burned by paying overinflated transfer fees for underperforming players so they’re approaching this one with caution. Meunier certainly represents better value – particularly in the short-term.

For me, though, Wan-Bissaka is the way to go. He’s young, hungry and incredibly talented. It can be argued that he was up there amongst the best right-backs in the country last year and he’s only going to get better.

If United did eventually decide to move for Wan-Bissaka, I feel he’d be able to play without pressure because there’s no way he can perform any worse than Ashley Young has done over the last twelve months.

Honestly, though, if United signed either of these guys I’d be perfectly happy as both would be a massive step in the right direction.
