Well, folks, after a long few weeks, Manchester United have finally got their man.
The club confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has made the move to Old Trafford, after agreeing a fee with Crystal Palace for the 21-year-old’s signature.
After a brilliant breakthrough season at Selhurst Park last year, it always looked inevitable that Wan-Bissaka would be on the move this summer as the so-called ‘big clubs’ began to take note. Thankfully, United moved quickly and got the deal done.
I cannot underestimate how important this signing is. United haven’t had a real top-quality right-back in their ranks for years, and I think we’ll see an immediate impact from Wan-Bissaka purely due to the fact that he’s a massive upgrade on Ashley Young.
It’s all about having a good start. You never want to begin on a bad note as sometimes the pressure is too hard to recover from at a world-renowned club. Wan-Bissaka now needs some time to rest up before getting himself ready to meet up with his new teammates on pre-season tour.
I’d expect we won’t see him for the first few games, but I look towards the Tottenham Hotspur tour match as a possible debut for our new right-back. That takes place towards the back end of July.
Welcome, Aaron! I’m sure you’ll love it here!
