Aaron Wan-Bissaka has an uncertain future at Man United this summer.
Manchester United Football Club haven’t added any new signings to this point, which is somewhat disappointing given how thin the squad is looking at present.
You get the feeling that they’ll be more exits to follow before the summer is out, as Erik ten Hag looks to mould this squad into one that fits his style of play.
One player who has been told he can leave is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. We covered that story last month.
Well, at has gone quiet on that front – probably due to United’s transfer fee demands coupled with the wage demands of Wan-Bissaka himself.
Now, Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth (h/t Football Daily) has had his say on the situation.
According to Sheth, the 24-year-old is ‘prepared’ to fight for his Man United place, though Wan-Bissaka would like regular first-team football.
On top of that, United are prepared to consider ‘suitable’ offers for Wan-Bissaka, though all the involved parties remain somewhat relaxed about the situation.
As things stand, there is no desperate need to cash in on Wan-Bissaka, who has two years left on his current deal, with the option for a further year.
To us, this feels pretty straightforward. If United go out there and sign a new first-choice right-back, Wan-Bissaka simply has to go. If no right-sided defender is signed, though, I can see a very strong case to keeping him around for at least another year.
It’s a tricky situation because during his debut season, Wan-Bissaka greatly impressed, particularly in the defensive third of the field. However, United should be looking to play on the front foot, which is Wan-Bissaka’s biggest weakness.
In my opinion, I reckon Wan-Bissaka will likely end up staying as I don’t see the club pushing hard to sign a new right-back anytime soon.
