Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to get the opportunity to show Erik ten Hag what he can do before he’s sold.
Manchester United Football Club will head in a fresh direction under Erik ten Hag, with the rebuild already underway.
The clearout has begun, with several players leaving on free transfers while others are likely to be sold. Amongst the guys who we thought would already be gone is Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
After all, not too long ago, he was given the all-clear to try and find a new club.
Well, it seems as though Ten Hag wants to give Wan-Bissaka one final opportunity to prove his worth…
The story comes from Goal, who state that the 24-year-old United star will get the ‘chance to impress’ in pre-season before a final decision is made on his future.
Goal stresses that there are ‘major doubts’ about whether the £50m right-back will fit into Ten Hag’s system, while fellow right-sided defender Diogo Dalot has already been told he’ll be in the squad for next season.
Wan-Bissaka is in a pretty weird situation. He’s arguably the best defensive full-back I’ve seen over the last decade. The problem? The game is now more offensive than ever. You need width and attacking quality from your wing-backs and that’s the area of Wan-Bissaka’s game that’s pretty weak…
I do worry about what sort of fee United would get for Wan-Bissaka if he were to be sold, as I seriously doubt the club will get anything close to the massive amount of money they paid to bring him in.
Perhaps Ten Hag is having second thoughts about Wan-Bissaka and maybe he’ll put on a good show during United’s pre-season tour, thus salvaging his place within the squad.
