According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City want to prise Adnan Januzaj away from Manchester United. The paper are claiming that United have been in contract talks with the young Belgian for over six months, and can’t agree on a deal for the 18-year old starlet. However yesterday, David Moyes said he was confident Januzaj would sign a new deal.
If United were to sell him (which I don’t think they’d be stupid enough to do), there is no chance City would be his preferred destination anyway. Surely if Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich came calling, they’d all be ahead of City.
The player has declared himself happy at Manchester United, and he seems like an intelligent boy. He knows he has to bide his time and wait for his chance, and when he gets it he has to make sure he grabs it with both hands.
The youngster made his United debut at the weekend, and in the thirty minutes he was on the pitch he made a huge impact on the game. He looked comfortable on the ball, had an excellent eye for a pass and also beat his man to win the free-kick for Wayne Rooney’s goal.
He won’t feature for the first-team tonight though, due to age regulations restricting him moving back to the youth team if he did play. Meaning he won’t play in the Champions League for United until October at the earliest.
Januzaj’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he’d be free to speak to abroad clubs in January if a new deal isn’t agreed.
