Adnan Januzaj worried about Manchester United future

After bursting onto the scene in scintillating style last season, Adnan Januzaj has been largely limited to appearances off the bench in both pre-season and the opening few weeks of the Premier League. According to the Daily Star, he held crunch talks with new boss Louis van Gaal after the 19-year old became concerned about his future.

Now, the first point of note is that this information comes from the Daily Star, so for the moment I’d be taking this one with a pinch of salt. However, you do worry about what this season does hold for Adnan Januzaj.

He featured in pretty much every game for United at some point last season, starting most of them. He isn’t going to be happy at being demoted to the bench after being one of United’s best [if not the best] outfield player last season. His skill and agility was a real joy to watch, so it does seem silly to waste the insane amount of talent he has/

The problem is, where exactly does he fit in if Louis van Gaal does persist with this 3-5-2 formation. He can’t play as a wing-back as he doesn’t have the defensive abilities, he’s too lightweight to play in the centre of midfield and he has massive amounts of competition at the striker spot. The best position for him has to be the #10 role currently occupied by Juan Mata. Personally I’d give Januzaj a go there in one of the bigger games and see how he handles the pressure.
