Adrien Rabiot is keen on a move to Man United during this window, after leaving Juventus.
Manchester United continue to look to strengthen their playing squad this summer, with the midfield position now being targeted for a potential upgrade.
With money tight, it’s not going to be easy.
Perhaps Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS could look towards some free agent acquisitions, though typically, these moves tend to come with overinflated wages due to the lack of a transfer fee.
One such player who falls into that category is Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman is available on a Bosman after his five-year stay at Juventus has ended.
Now, TEAMtalk have provided an update on his future, claiming that the 29-year-old midfielder now has his ‘sights set’ on joining United.
Although Rabiot seems open to a move away from Old Trafford at this stage, it does seem as though it is his preferred destination. One that that is for certain is the midfielder is eyeing a ‘lucrative’ contract, which is likely to be his last big-money move in his career.
TEAMtalk believe Rabiot is after a wage similar to Casemiro’s £350,000-a-week. I struggle to see any sense in offering him that much at this stage of his career. Particularly as INEOS are now starting to tighten the budget somewhat.
Rabiot has been targeted for transfer by United in each of the last couple of summer windows. He is certainly a player that Erik ten Hag would like to work with, though I cannot help but feel that the ship has sailed.
He’s 29 now. Mason Mount is coming back from injury. Kobbie Mainoo continues to improve. Toby Collyer will stake his claim for minutes, too. I just don’t see much logical sense in breaking the bank on Rabiot, particularly as it seems like all he cares about is a huge payday.
