France midfielder, Adrien Rabiot, is interested by the prospect of joining Man United.
To date, Erik ten Hag has been delivered three signings at Manchester United. If I had to make a guess, the Dutchman probably would have wanted more by now.
Once again, the Red Devils’ old-age problems under the Glazers continue. The club dilly-dally in the transfer market, then end up settling for their third and fourth choice options.
Frenkie de Jong is the player that Ten Hag truly desires, though that transfer just doesn’t look like happening. Yesterday, attention turned to PSG’s Adrien Rabiot.
Well, it seems like that deal is progressing rather quickly. Journalist Julien Laurens has an update for us – and it’s a pretty important one.
He took to Twitter to state that Rabiot is ‘keen on joining’ Man United, while discussions with his agent (who happens to be his mother) have now started.
Rabiot, whose current Juventus deal expires next summer, is set to cost around £15million by all accounts.
What worries me about Rabiot is his high wages. I’d be surprised if United manage to negotiate a deal worth anything less than his current £175,000-a-week pay packet – which feels like a big overspend in my opinion.
Rabiot is someone who has always failed to live up to expectations. Nobody can deny his talent and natural ability, though you can ask questions about his attitude and application. Is someone with a poor mindset really what United need right now? Probably not.
What’s crazy is that the now 27-year-old would probably walk straight into the starting line-up from day one, purely because United’s midfield is an absolute disaster at the moment.
To us, Rabiot feels like a desperation signing. That’s never an ideal situation to be in.
