Adrien Rabiot’s expensive wage demands make it unlikely that Man United will make a move to sign the midfielder.
Manchester United Football Club are still being linked with a move to sign Adrien Rabiot, as the Frenchman remains a free agent following his departure from Juventus.
However, his wage demands have come into question, with the midfielder asking for a small fortune in order to sign for a club on a Bosman transfer.
Now, Give Me Sport have provided an update on that front. They state that the player’s wage demands are ‘blocking’ any move to Man United, or any other Premier League side, due to his asking price.
It’s stated that Rabiot’s wage demands are starting at £220k-a-week, while it’d be around two months before the Frenchman is fully fit due to the fact he’s had no pre-season whatsoever. That level of uncertainty makes a deal even more difficult.
United aren’t the only side who are keen on Rabiot, with both Arsenal and Newcastle United linked in recent weeks.
There can be no doubt that Rabiot would improve this current United midfield. He’d add extra depth and quality, offering Erik ten Hag more freedom when it comes to rotating and keeping his players fit. However, this would be a hefty price to pay for someone who wouldn’t start every single week.
Ever since INEOS came in, they’ve been looking to tighten the belt financially. I’d be extremely surprised if they now decide to go against that strategy by spending big money on Rabiot. Yes, he’s a top talent but it feels like he’s looking to go to the highest bidder rather than to the best stylistic fit.
