Adrien Rabiot’s weekly wage demands coupled with contract length have now been brought to light…
Man United’s midfield struggles were there for all to see on Sunday against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Frenkie de Jong was always the top target. That deal now looks completely off the table.
More recently, a move for Adrien Rabiot feels like it has real promise. The Frenchman, who currently plies his trade for Juventus, has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Serie A club. United are ready to pounce.
The latest information in the saga comes from Carlo Laudisa who writes for Gazzetta, with the translation coming from Get Italian Football News.
The story states that the player’s wage demands is ‘holding back’ the conclusion of Rabiot’s transfer to Man United during this window.
It states that while a fee with Juventus has been agreed, personal terms were not.
United have come across some ‘hesitations’ when dealing with Veronique – Adrien’s mother and agent. A lot of those problems come because of the £167k-a-week wage demands, over a three-year contract, that Rabiot is ‘demanding’.
The player also wants guarantees over Champions league football. Obviously, United can’t do anything about that until next season at the very least.
We were warned about the off-field issues that Rabiot could bring. Well, it looks like we’re already having to put up with those first-hand. The Frenchman will probably still join the club, becoming yet another expensive player who United struggle to move away from in one or two years’ time.
Has this club not learned anything over the last few years? Honestly, from top to bottom, it’s just an absolute shambles. Time and time again the same mistakes are repeated, which is why I don’t think we’ll improve anytime soon, regardless of what manager is in charge and what players are acquired.
