According to Italian sports website FC Inter News, Ivan Perisic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, visited Manchester on Thursday to talk about his 28-year-old client. Apparently, Ramadani told the Red Devils that the Croatia star will probably end up renewing his contract with Inter Milan.
To add to that, Perisic’s agent claims that they have rejected Milan’s initial offer regarding a new €5m (£4.5m) a year deal, but talks are likely to continue.
Jose Mourinho’s interest in Perisic has been well documented all summer, but this latest news tells me that a deal is pretty much dead in the water – and perhaps this is one final shot from his agent to try and force the Red Devils’ hand.
You have to give credit to the Serie A side for their resilience, because they clearly aren’t planning on letting the left-winger go easily.
This is an area of the field where Manchester United certainly need a new player. Anthony Martial wasn’t great last season and Jesse Lingard just isn’t as attack-minded as we’d like. If you could combine both Lingard and Martial you’d have the perfect player – and that guy would be something much closer to Perisic.
For me though, it just doesn’t look like we’ll be bringing a new left-sided attacker in, which could hurt us during a long and hard season.
