Ajax are eyeing up a short-term loan move for Dean Henderson.
For all their faults this season, Manchester United have been nigh-on perfect when it comes to choosing their goalkeepers. David de Gea has been back to his best recently, while the likes of Sergio Romero and Dean Henderson have done a stunning job when called upon.
Last term there was a genuine battle in between De Gea and Henderson for the starting job. In the end, the Spaniard won out, leaving the Englishman sitting on the bench.
There’s only so long Henderson will be content with waiting around for his opportunity, mind. Now according to the Manchester Evening News, the 24-year-old may have been offered a way out.
Apparently, European giant Ajax are eyeing a loan move for the United star, who has just one start under his belt this term.
As things stand, it’s claimed that United haven’t decided on what to do with Henderson. However, it is expected that the Englishman will start in United’s final Champions League group stage game against Young Boys at Old Trafford tomorrow night.
It’s also stated that Henderson is eager to impress the new manager, so this will be a good opportunity for the Englishman to show us all what he can do.
Former United manager and current Ajax Chief Executive is a known admirer of Henderson, who could cash in on number one Andre Onana in the new year due to a winding down contract.
It’s all down to how United want to play it. Do they put full faith in De Gea and move on from Henderson? Or do they allow the battle between the two to continue? It’s a tough call.
Personally, I’m a massive fan of Henderson and what he brings to the table. So in an ideal world, we’d keep him around and when the time is right, move on from De Gea. I’m just not sure Hendo is willing to wait that long which is fair enough.
