Manchester United Football Club made the perfect start to their second season under Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils absolutely bullied West Ham United for 90 minutes straight, putting in a performance of top quality that the rest of the Premier League would have been worried about.
New stars Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic both had matches to remember, with the pair scoring a brace and winning the Man of the Match award respectively.
In the wake of the result, BBC pundit Alan Shearer has been making his predictions ahead of the new season. Despite the fact that he overlooked the aforementioned Lukaku for the Golden Boot, to my surprise, he did predict the Red Devils to win the Premier League title – which is, of course, the most important thing.
When asked who’ll win the title, Shearer responded to the BBC:
“My title winners for the season are Manchester United.”
“Jose Mourinho, he finds a way to win and I think they’ll win it.”
It’s a well-known fact that in his second season, the self-proclaimed Special One tends to get his hands on the league trophy. I’m praying that this is the case again here, but it certainly will not be easy.
Yes, we do have a brilliant chance at going all the way, but undoubtedly the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea will all have a say. Perhaps if we can make one more marquee signing, maybe that’d push us over the edge.
