Alejandro Garnacho has plenty of loan offers on the table, should Man United allow him to leave on a short-term deal.
Manchester United’s new era starts today. The Old Trafford club, under Erik ten Hag, will be hoping to start with a victory against an in-form Brighton & Hove Albion side.
Ahead of that match, it’ll be intriguing to see where Alejandro Garnacho’s short-term future lies. There’s a great chance the Argentine is in the matchday squad this afternoon, purely due to Anthony Martial’s hamstring injury. He wasn’t involved for the U23s yesterday, further indicating he’s in the mix for this one.
Whether or not the teenager is ready to play regularly for the United first-team is a different matter entirely. And if the new boss deems that’s the case for Garnacho, he won’t be short on offers.
Apparently, the United starlet is attracting interest from more than 20 teams, from England, Spain, Germany, Italy and Scotland. That’s according to the Daily Mirror.
Ten Hag is also said to be a ‘huge fan’ of the player, who was the standout performer against Rayo Vallecano last weekend. As things stand, the United gaffer is ‘weighing up’ what’s best for the talented youngster and working out whether he can give him enough game time to ‘accelerate his development’ this season.
The boss is considering whether the environment is right for Garnacho to flourish, while United begin to find their feet under their new manager during what is likely to be a topsy-turvy campaign.
As things stand, I’d have Garnacho as the fourth or fifth choice winger, behind Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial and maybe Anthony Elanga. He can start cup and European games semi-regularly, while when injury strikes, he absolutely moves into contention to start league games.
I’d love for Garnacho to stick around, though I’d also genuinely be happy if he ends up leaving on loan.
