Alejandro Garnacho suffered an injury that is worse than initially feared.
Just yesterday, Manchester United fears in regard to an Alejandro Garnacho were somewhat eased, with Erik ten Hag speaking out on the situation – claiming that he didn’t think the problem was too bad.
As the day wore on, the whispers coming out of the media had us all worried again…
Journalist Gaston Edul, who works for TYC Sports, dealt the hammer blow. He took to Twitter to claim that the injury to the United man is ‘bigger than expected’. Now, he’ll be ruled out of Argentina’s next games during the international break later this month.
No timeframe was placed upon Garnacho’s return, though it did look like a pretty nasty injury – particularly as the teenager left Old Trafford on crutches.
Ankle injuries can vary in severity, though at the very least, we will not see Garnacho play for United during our upcoming two games against Real Betis and Fulham ahead of the international break.
Then, Garnacho will have a fortnight to get himself fit for the run-in. Make no mistake about it, this is a huge couple of months for United and they can use all the help they can get.
More than anything, I’m just disappointed for Garnacho. He doesn’t deserve to miss any time whatsoever after the impact he has made. Sadly, it now looks like he’ll be made to wait for his international debut after earning his call-up due to months of hard work here in Manchester.
I’d like to think that the injury won’t keep him out for too much longer, with the winger having an important role to play between now and May.
Get well soon, Alejandro!
