Man United’s Alejandro Garnacho has been named the Rising Baller of the Year for 2022.
It would have been easy for Erik ten Hag to completely neglect the Manchester United youth setup this term, with the win-now mentality that’s needed at Old Trafford.
Instead, the Dutchman has been more than willing to tap into the U23 and U18 squads, offering first-team opportunities to those that deserve them.
There can be no doubt that Alejandro Garnacho has been the biggest benefactor. After a slow start to the term due to some attitude problems, the young Argentine has been a mainstay in United matchday squads.
It has been a whirlwind year for the teenage winger. He won the FA Youth Cup, was named in an Argentina squad and is now a first-team regular at United.
His performances are now starting to be recognised on the global level. Which can be scary for one so young. For his displays and talent, the United starlet has been named the 2022 Rising Baller of the Year.

Again, this is more recognition of Garnacho’s talent and natural progression. He does not look out of place in that United first team at such a young, tender age.
The crazy part is that Garnacho isn’t even close to the finished article. There’s still some rawness and unpredictability to his game which is perhaps why he’s such a nightmare for opposing defenders.
Garnacho has saved United a lot of money. Wingers aren’t cheap, particularly premium ones. The Argentine is someone who has already proved his worth and he’s only going to get better over the next few years. Thankfully, he looks like he’s here to stay, at least for a little while!
Congrats, Alejandro!
