Alejandro Garnacho’s whirlwind breakout at Man United is set to continue with a spot in the pre-season tour squad.
After scoring a stunning brace in the FA Youth Cup final, Alejandro Garnacho’s rise to prominence is well underway. The attacker, who was born in Spain, has been on the fringes of the first-team over the last few weeks, too.
Garnacho is no doubt the poster boy of the ‘Class of 2022’, with the former Atletico Madrid man seemingly loving every second of being out on that Old Trafford pitch yesterday.
Well, Garnacho better get used to that, if talks of a new contract being in the works turns out to be the truth. It’s the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler with the scoop and he’s been excellent with United news over the last year or so.
What I found most interesting about the article is that the 17-year-old United starlet is ‘expected’ to be a part of Erik ten Hag’s first pre-season tour this summer.
The Reds will head to both Thailand and Australia to build up their fitness ahead of the new season. Garnacho will be included – and no doubt we’ll see him take to the field and get some minutes under his belt.
More than anything, this just speaks to the talent the man possesses. He’s already got the ability to mix it with the best in the business. Now, it’s about continuing that development and rounding out his game to become the complete package. What better way to do that than learning from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo?
I’m just super excited to see how Garnacho gets on. We know he’s too good for U18 football, so it’s time to make that next step up.
