Alejandro Garnacho spotted with Man United matchday squad for Norwich game

Alejandro Garnacho is with the senior Man United squad for their game against Norwich City.

Manchester United’s 2021/22 season is over already, despite the Red Devils having seven games left to play.

There are no trophies on offer, while a Champions League place for next term looks nothing but a pipedream.

Ralf Rangnick now has nothing to lose. The German should put egos to one side and see what the next generation of talents can do. Let’s be honest, these young lads simply cannot perform any worse than the senior side have done recently.

Last weekend, Hannibal Mejbri featured in the matchday squad. This time around, there’s a different young man in the mix with the first-team; Alejandro Garnacho.

Yesterday, the 17-year-old United starlet was pictured with the first-team squad for the Norwich City game, as they arrived at their hotel ahead of the match.

Garnacho has had a crazy few months. He’s been in brilliant form at youth level, before earning himself an Argentina international call-up. I guess it was only a matter of time before we saw him included in a senior game. Today is that day.

Whether Garnacho plays is another matter entirely. I’m going to assume the attacker will likely be a substitute at best, purely because United wouldn’t want him picking up an injury ahead of their FA Youth Cup final later this month.

Although the winger is probably more than good enough to feature in this fixture, it does make sense to play it safe and keep him wrapped up in cotton wool before the bigger game that’s to come. Before he is permanently promoted to the first-team at some point in the 2022/23 season.

Congratulations on the call-up, Alejandro!
