Alex Bruce, ex-teammate of Harry Maguire, has leapt to the defence of the Manchester United captain today.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know all about Harry Maguire’s trouble with Greek police following an incident in Mykonos.
We’re not going to get into that here. Quite frankly, we weren’t there and we’ll never know what happened so it’s not our place to comment.
However, one man who knows Maguire extremely well is Alex Bruce. The pair played together at Hull City between 2014 and 2017, partnering regularly at the heart of The Tigers’ defence.
Today, Alex Bruce has taken to social media to leap to the defence of Harry Maguire – very passionately, too. Bruce has stated that the claims made against Maguire are ‘absolute nonsense’ while the Englishman ‘isn’t capable’ of such comments that he is being accused of.
A quick look at the family members of Maguire also seem to back up what Bruce is saying. Again, we’d like to reiterate that we don’t know what happened, though it does seem out-of-character.
Maguire one of football’s nice guys
Everyone who Maguire has played with only has positive things to say about the Englishman. He’s also done plenty of work in the local community since moving to Manchester, while wearing that armband with pride.
When I first read the story, I was completely shocked. However, if it’s true that Maguire’s sister, Daisy, was injected with an unknown substance then immediately fainted, how else would you expect Harry to react?
It’s the natural instinct to protect your family members, while I’m shocked that this isn’t the headline, rather than Maguire allegedly saying ‘Do you know who I am?’
Again, the British media are looking for clicks rather than protecting one of their own, which seems pretty sad in our opinion.
Hopefully, the court clears everything up and Maguire can put this behind him as soon as possible.
Credit to Alex Bruce for jumping to his defence, though.
