Man United fans reacted as Alex Telles put in a top display vs West Ham last night.
A move for Alex Telles left us here at Old Trafford Faithful frothing at the mouth. That left-back slot has been a problem position over the last few seasons, largely due to injuries and inconsistencies in regards to who starts out there.
This season, that’s changed. Unfortunately (for him anyway), it’s not Telles scooping the headlines. Rather, it’s the man he was supposed to replace; Luke Shaw.
Both Telles and Shaw have pushed each other to greater levels and although Telles is finding it hard to get starts at the moment, he certainly took his opportunity last night against West Ham.
In the first half in particular, the Brazilian was United’s main outlet for attacking prowess. It was his lung-bursting runs forward and good balls into the box that was giving West Ham the most trouble.
Defensively, he showed a willingness to get stuck in and track back, too. An excellent defensive run and tackle denied West Ham a glorious opportunity in the middle of that first 45 minutes. At the end of the day, preventing balls going into the back of our net is his main job and he did that wonderfully-well on numerous occasions.
Perhaps Solskjaer could find a way to get both Shaw and Telles in the same team. The Brazilian is that good going forward, he could warrant starts in that left-back slot from time-to-time.
Anyway, as you’d imagine, United fans were buzzing all over social media, reacting to a top display from the £13.6m (BBC) star. He was excellent.
