Alex Telles out of the World Cup through injury

Alex Telles has been ruled out of the rest of the Qatar 2022 World Cup with injury.

Just earlier today, we covered a story claiming that Alex Telles had suffered a knee injury. The extent of which was not yet known with the Brazil international set to have an MRI scan on the problem today.

That scan has now been done, with the United left-back, unfortunately, being dealt a cruel blow, with his World Cup now over due to the knee injury he picked up against Cameroon.

It’s Geglobo with the scoop, with the knee problem seemingly more concerning than initially feared. It may even require surgery to correct the issue.

What that means for Telles’ current loan spell at Sevilla remains to be seen. For now, he’s probably just super gutted to be ruled out of the remainder of Qatar 2022 – where his country remains the favourite for glory.

Telles is someone who has always enjoyed representing his nation, playing in a skilful team full of flair and genuine quality. No doubt he’s hurting right now.

Now the ex-Porto man faces an anxious wait to work out how long he’ll be sidelined for. Surgery hints that it’ll be months rather than weeks – which obviously isn’t ideal as Telles was trying to get his career back on track after leaving United on loan.

Now, there’s a good chance that short-term move to Sevilla is terminated in early 2023. I guess it depends on whether United or Sevilla have the option to end that contract prematurely.

We’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out, but I’m just gutted for the player. The sport can be so cruel sometimes.

Do you think we’ll see Alex Telles back at Man United after this injury? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
