Alexis Sanchez dropped from Chile squad for one key reason: report

Manchester United were expecting a world-class player when they signed Alexis Sanchez. So far, the ex-Arsenal man has been anything but.

We’re now just one fixture away from the first international break this season. To our surprise, Sanchez had found himself dropped from the Chile squad. Now, the Manchester Evening News have done some digging and revealed why…

They cite the Chile manager, Reinaldo Rueda, who claims that United have asked Chile to not include the 29-year-old for their upcoming friendlies. Presumably, as he’s still nursing an injury issue that has kept him away from the starting XI since the opener against Leicester City.

“It’s a recommendation from Manchester United’s medical staff,” Rueda said. “He is recovering but all that this trip means the suggestion was that he should not participate in these friendlies.

“Respecting that and what Alexis feels we did not take into account for this call.”

First and foremost, it’s absolutely vital that Sanchez gets himself back fit to perform at his brilliant best for United. We all know just how good he is. It’s a shame that so far, he hasn’t quite lived up to the hype.

We have to remember that he did have an excellent pre-season tour of the United States and that form wasn’t too long ago. If he can keep himself hungry, with morale high, I’ve absolutely no doubt that Sanchez will light up Old Trafford as this season continues to progress.

Hopefully, he’s back in the squad to take on Burnley this weekend. Preferably as a starter as we need a major lift right now.
