Alexis Sanchez names player Manchester United should have signed this summer

Manchester United Football Club have had a distinctly average transfer window to this point, with the Red Devils’ only major signing being Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Jose Mourinho’s probably extremely frustrated with the situation that is currently unfolding at Old Trafford, and with time dwindling down, it looks as though we’ll be seeing no new faces, either.

That hasn’t stopped Alexis Sanchez speaking out though. The 29-year-old reckons that United should have made a move for the former Arsenal man’s international teammate, Arturo Vidal.

The midfielder was previously linked with a United switch in the David Moyes era, and could well have been available during this current window if the price was right for Bayern Munich.

“At United, we have to sign big players, with experience,” Sanchez told Sky Sports. “Barcelona just signed Arturo Vidal, who is a great player and my team-mate from Chile.

“He is an example of the type of players we need to sign in order to win trophies and compete at the highest level.

I mean, Sanchez is kind of right. He has bags of experience, both domestically and internationally. There is no doubt he’d bring an awful lot to the table if the move was to happen.

The 31-year-old has had a glittering career, but we’d only see his best form for perhaps one or two more seasons. With his injury record, that’s somewhat of a gamble to take. At this point, though, it’s a case of getting at least one signing over the line. If we head into the season with the current squad, I’m not sure we can mount a serious title challenge, particularly as our rivals have been strengthening.
