Alexis Sanchez reacts to scoring winner as Man United beat Newcastle 3-2

Manchester United Football Club returned to winning ways. My, they desperately needed it.

Jose Mourinho’s men found themselves 2-0 down with 70 minutes on the clock. Up steps Juan Mata to curl in a peach of a free-kick, before Anthony Martial lashed home to level things up at 2-2.

Then came the moment of the season so far. Alexis Sanchez rose excellently above his marker to head home and give the Red Devils all three points. What a moment, what a finish.

Shortly after, the man from Chile took to social media to post a photo of himself celebrating with his teammates. There was no caption, just three emojis resembling United’s club colours.

I really do hope that this kickstarts his United career. Let’s be honest, he struggled last season, but he was excellent during the pre-season, so I genuinely thought he’d start this year like a house on fire.

Obviously that didn’t happen, and he did pick up an early injury knock, but over the last few weeks, you have to say that Sanchez had been awful up until this weekend.

It’s just a shame that we’re now heading into the international break which kills any chances of us building up the momentum. All I’d like to see is Sanchez playing with that desire, drive and energy all the time. He clearly still has it in his locker to do excactly that, so hopefully, we’ll begin to reap the rewards.
