Altay Bayindir is not best pleased with his current situation at Man United.
Manchester United Football Club had to sign a couple of goalkeepers last summer, with a complete reshuffle taking place in that area of the field. David de Gea left on a free transfer after a decade of service to the Red Devils.
Andre Onana was acquired in a big-money deal as the new number one. He has been steady enough. Altay Bayindir was brought in as his back-up, though we’ve only seen him in action once, against Newport County.
Altay was no doubt expecting to be presented with more opportunities to this point, particularly when Onana headed off to AFCON. However, when fit and present, the man from Cameroon has been selected 100% of the time.
As a result, Altay’s unhappiness is on the rise. You cannot really blame him…
It’s GS Gazete with the latest information, who state that the 25-year-old United player is growing ‘very tired and frustrated’ at the lack of opportunities that have been presented to him. As a result, he’s now considering an exit from Old Trafford after just one season.
Having already played for Istanbul side Fenerbahce, Altay has already been linked with a move to their fierce rivals, Galatasaray.
This is a player who is at that stage in his career where regular game-time is an absolute must. Perhaps it was somewhat naive on his part to agree to join United, though I also believed he’d be given more chances to this point.
However, it seems he’s not keen to stick around, which you have to appreciate. If United can receive more than what they paid to bring him in, then why not let him go and find another back-up?
