Amad Diallo emerges as potential target for Sheffield United: report

Amad Diallo is a transfer target for Championship side Sheffield United.

Manchester United’s Amad Diallo has had a whirlwind twelve months. The young winger was supposed to make the move to Old Trafford last summer – but paperwork not being submitted in time prevented that deal from going through.

Amad would be made to wait until January until his dream move to the 20-time Premier League champions came to fruition.

The wide player would be used sparingly as Amad became used to his new surroundings, though a goal against AC Milan showed us all a glimpse into the future.

He was supposed to be heading back to Atalanta on loan this term, but for an injury he’d suffer on transfer deadline day, ruining those plans. Now Amad is back in training and looking forward to a likely short-term move away from the Theatre of Dreams in January.

That’s where Sheffield United come in. According to the Sheffield Star, the talented 19-year-old United starlet has emerged as a potential January transfer target for The Blades.

Apparently, Sheffield United manager, Slavisa Jokanovic, has urged his employers to sign a winger in January as they push for a top-six finish. Amad is now on that list.

It’s unclear whether a move for the Ivory Coast international would be a permanent or loan, but given the fact United spent a small fortune to bring him to Manchester, you’d imagine it’s the latter…

To us, it feels like a no-brainer that Amad departs on a short-term move in the winter window. Let’s be honest, he isn’t beating out Cristiano Ronaldo or any other United first-teamers this season, so why not go get him game time elsewhere?

My worry is that Amad is probably a cut above Sheffield United. Atalanta were dead-set on signing him for the season over the summer. Why not re-visit that as it’d allow our winger to play at a much higher level?

Even if Atalanta are no longer interested, I’m sure they’ll be many other clubs in Europe’s top leagues wanting some help out wide.

Would Sheffield United be a good fit for Amad Diallo? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
