Man United fans were pleased with what they saw from Amad Diallo in the second half of the Rangers vs Dundee United match yesterday.
It’s fair to say that the current Manchester United squad is going to look extremely different on the opening day of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
Several faces will leave on free transfers, others will be sold. Those guys have to be replaced, while United’s first option should be looking to promote from within. After all, there are some brilliant players coming through right now.
One man who would’ve hoped to have already forced his way into the first team is Amad. Instead, he’s spent the second half of this season on loan at Rangers up in Scotland.
After a debut goal, things have been tough for Amad North of the border. More often than not, the Ivory Coast international has remained rooted to the substitutes bench – as the game looked a little too fast for him. There were whispers claiming Rangers would actively look to send him back to Manchester as soon as possible, too.
It’s easy to forget that this guy is still a teenager and in footballing terms, he’s so very young. No doubt in time he’ll develop and grow, but right now, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t think he’s fully ready.
Anyway yesterday, Amad put in one of his better performances. He came on as a half-time substitute and changed the game due to his energy, directness and sheer threat. He’d also score a lovely goal to ensure Rangers would win all three points.
No doubt this will offer Amad confidence going forward. It’s just a shame there are only two league games left for the winger to make his mark. He also has a Europa League final to look forward too, of course!
After his impressive cameo yesterday, United fans took to Twitter by the masses to express that they hold high hopes for the 19-year-old. He certainly took his goal well!
