Amad Diallo says he’ll be ready to take his chance when it arrives

Amad Diallo has explained how he’ll be ready to take his first-team opportunity when the chance arrives.

Back in January when Amad Diallo joined, the Manchester United fans were rightfully excited. This is a young man who looks like he has as much talent as anyone.

Pace, a real football intelligence and an eye for goal was on full display during a couple of games for the U23s. It was immediately clear our Ivorian was too good for that level.

A stunning header against AC Milan in the Europa League would be the perfect introduction to the first team. Since then, the winger has been drip-fed minutes – and looked pretty sharp whenever he’s been called upon.

Understandably, United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are taking it slow with Amad. This is a young man who is still adapting and adjusting to life in a new country, after all.

Now, in an exclusive interview with the official club website, the United starlet has vowed to take his first-team chance when the opportunity arrives.

“I need to develop slowly but surely. I need to listen to my coaches’ advice and, when I get more chances to play in United’s first team, it will be up to me to show my worth and show that they did not make a mistake when they bought me.” Amad told the official United website in a brilliant exclusive interview.

“When my chance comes along, I will be ready take it, but I will take my time. I’m not rushing anything. This is who I am and it’s working well for me so far.”

First and foremost, Diallo is a super confident, likeable young man and this interview, from top-to-bottom, was absolutely superb.

He’s now firmly fixated in the senior squad at Old Trafford, with the hope being that before long, Amad will be starting regular matches in both the Premier League and cup competitions.

I understand that his task will be made a little harder due to the imminent arrival of Jadon Sancho, though Amad will back himself to be more than good enough to force his way into the plans. After all, football is now a squad game more than ever before and regular rotation is the key to success.

Now, for Amad, it’s about impressing during United’s pre-season friendlies and really giving Solskjaer something to think about before the serious action kicks off in seven weeks’ time.
