We’ve all been dying to see Amad Diallo in action, with the Ivorian getting his first start and scoring a brilliant brace vs Liverpool for the U23s.
Amad Diallo has arrived. Manchester United Football Club tried desperately to get this kid in through the Old Trafford doors in the summer window, though eventually ran out of time to do so.
Well, the Ivorian is certainly doing his utmost to make up for lost time. Scoring a double on your U23s debut against United’s biggest rivals is definitely a message of intent from the teenage winger.
We’ve always been a big believer in giving players time. Understandably, Diallo is in his new surroundings, learning a new system, playing with (and against) a level of ability he’s probably not seen at Atalanta (no disrespect intended). This kid, though, looks too special to ignore.
The confidence is there for all to see, as is the god-given ability. Diallo looks a real prospect, while U23s football already looks a level below his talent.
Diallo took his first goal wonderfully-well, while backing it up with a cheeky panenka penalty. It’s all well and good going for that at 5-2 up but I wouldn’t be confident if he tried it against Liverpool in the last minutes of a game away at Anfield!
Jokes aside, I honestly don’t think it’ll be long before Diallo gets his first-team opportunity. It’ll likely come in a cup game off the substitutes bench or in a match where the three points are secure, but you have to start somewhere, right…?
Check out the brilliant brace vs Liverpool here, cheers to @utdreportAcad for the footage. His first definitely looks familiar, after finishing a chance in similar style in first-team training earlier this week…
