Amad has explained the situation after his late sending off against Liverpool yesterday.
Manchester United left it late, but eventually overcame Liverpool in an FA Cup tie that will live long in the memory forever. Erik ten Hag, with his job potentially on the line, got one over the old rival, ending Jurgen Klopp’s quadruple hopes during his farewell tour.
The Red Devils deserved it. They showed courage. They were brave. They came to play. A youthful United side full of resilience and belief never gave up hope. They played until the final whistle.
It was Amad who’d send Old Trafford into absolute bedlam, scuffing a finish into the bottom corner, caressing a strike sweetly off the post and into the back of the net. He was the coolest man in the building, providing a moment that’ll remain etched in my mind until the end of time. Unbelievable scenes.
In the aftermath, Amad saw red. The emotion ran high. He’d run over to the Stretford End and hold his own shirt aloft. He’d already been booked, leaving the referee with no choice. We will forgive him as supporters. He’s only human after all. I’d have done the same.
After the game, Amad has explained the sending off after scoring the late winner, admitting that in the moment, he completely forgot about the first yellow card he picked up about five minutes earlier. As a result, he’ll now miss the Brentford game which does leave a sour taste in the mouth.

“What a game. Today I think we deserved this win. One of the best games of the season so I’m very happy. It was an important moment, I think it was the best goal of my career,” Amad said live on ITV, per The Mirror.
“I don’t believe, but this is football so you need to believe every moment. When he (Garnacho) gave me the ball I wanted to give it to him again but I shot. I forgot the first yellow so I’m really disappointed to get the red card but the most important for me was to get the win. Everyone came to me and said I deserved it. The most important [thing] for me today was the win.”
We’ve been critical of Amad of late. He’s barely played amid an injury crisis. When that happens, you fear the worst.
However, credit to the Ivory Coast international, who has remained patient, never complained and continued to work hard. He looked good as soon as he came on, threatening in behind with his pace and natural ability.
This goal will be a massive lift for his individual confidence levels as Amad looks to close out the season strong and stake a real claim for a permanent place within that United side.
Whatever happens from here on out, Amad will always have this moment to cherish forever.
