Amad joins Rangers on loan, given number 9 jersey

Amad has departed from Man United on a loan until the end of the season.

With Manchester United’s squad looking pretty jam-packed in terms of numbers, it always looked likely that some players would leave either permanently or on loan.

One man who was denied a loan over the summer was Amad. Sadly, he’d be hit with an injury just a matter of hours before sealing a move to Atalanta on a short-term deal.

Now, six months later, Amad is finally departing from the Theatre of Dreams on a short-term basis. The young attacker will head to Rangers in the Scottish Premier League for the remainder of the season, with the move being confirmed earlier today.

Shortly after the deal was announced, Amad would take to Twitter to send a message to the fans, holding his new number nine jersey aloft, admitting he cannot wait to get going.

Given the fact that Amad isn’t in Ralf Rangnick’s plans for the 2021/22 campaign, this always felt like a good idea.

There’s only so much Amad can learn in training from his United teammates before he simply has to be playing regularly to benefit.

This move to Rangers is no doubt going to serve him well in the long-run. Playing in such a physical league, for a top-tier side will ensure he’ll grow as a footballer over the next five months.

Rangers are a massive club and they’ve had a major injury on the right-hand side of their attack. With that in mind, I fully expect Amad to be playing pretty regularly. This is an outstanding opportunity for him.

Who knows, he may come back with a SPL winners medal around his neck, too!

Good luck, Amad!
