Amad looked very average against Celtic in the Old Firm derby last night, with Man United fans reacting in their droves…
Manchester United Football Club have been drastically better since Ralf Rangnick took charge. I guess all this squad needed was a kick up the backside to jolt them back into life.
That dressing room needed trimming down, too. A few players left on loan in order to play regularly. One of those guys is Amad. The youngster cost United the best part of £40million a year ago, though he’s been on the fringes of things, while also dealing with some injury issues.
On transfer deadline day, a move to Rangers would be sanctioned by the Old Trafford club. Amad would make the perfect start by scoring (and playing brilliantly) on debut against Ross County.
However, just a few days later, Amad would be jolted right back down to earth. The young winger would start against Celtic in the Old Firm derby. It was a trial by fire.
The Ivory Coast international would rarely get the ball. When he did receive it, Amad would make the wrong decision or overhit a pass. It looked like the pressure was overwhelming the former Atalanta man – which is understandable given his side was 3-0 down at half-time.
During the break, the decision would be made to hook Amad. While it’s true it could have been any one of eleven Rangers players who were taken off, Amad is the easy target in this situation given he’s only at the SPL club on loan…
As you’d imagine, the United fans would react in their droves as Amad struggled vs Celtic. He was rightly hooked at half-time following a display where he hardly touched the ball.
