Ander Herrera admits he is prepared to wait for Manchester United chance

Manchester United fans have been calling for Ander Herrera to get given his first start of the season, and their wish was duly granted last night as he took to the field against Club Brugge. After a sluggish first half, the 26-year old improved drastically in the second after getting a much-needed 45 minutes under his belt.

After the game Herrera was quizzed about his lack of game time, and like the consummate professional he is, he responded in true fashion.

Herrera said: “If the manager wants me to play I am going to be ready, if the manager wants me to wait, I am going to wait. I am a team player.” He continued. “I am realistic and sincere, and this is the way I think I am going to get my chance.”

What a breath of fresh air Ander Herrera is. I didn’t think it was possible for the Spaniard to further endear himself to Manchester United fans but these latest quotes have done exactly that.

Having been left out of every line-up this season (until last night), Herrera is prepared to bide his time and wait for his chance – and he certainly took that with a superb second half performance last night.

Hopefully we’ll now see him get a run in the team because he shown exactly what he is capable of when the confidence is flowing, and he could give us that attacking influence that has sometimes been lacking from our play.
