Manchester United were so lucky to keep hold of David de Gea due to a dodgy fax machine and Real Madrid’s late bid over the summer, and my have the club profited from that. The Spaniard has signed a new contract, but many still expect him to leave for Real Madrid.
Not Ander Herrera though, who has claimed De Gea is extremely happy in Manchester, but it’d be even easier to persuade him to stay if we win a trophy or two.
“I think he is very happy at Manchester United,” Herrera began. “You can see that. If you are not happy in one place, you cannot play like that.
“We can be calm and optimistic, first because he is in a fantastic club and if we start winning trophies, it’s easier to keep world class players.”
Manchester United are on the verge of winning their first piece of major silverware in three years, and that would have hurt the whole squad. During that time David de Gea has been the shining light, and nobody deserves the trophy win no more than he does.
