Wayne Rooney has officially left Manchester United Football Club, and what a sad sight it was. The 31-year-old won absolutely everything there is to win with the Red Devils, and he’ll go down as a club legend. He is a player that the fans will never forget.
As you’d imagine, the plaudits have been flooding in. The best of the bunch comes from Ander Herrera, and just when you thought you couldn’t love him any more, the Basque-born midfielder posts a tweet like this:
One day I will be able to tell my grandkids I played with you. All the best and thank you @WayneRooney #FarewellToALegend pic.twitter.com/QZS6OhDTcP
— Ander Herrera (@AnderHerrera) July 9, 2017
This is the stuff of dreams from Ander. He just loves Manchester United and everything about the club, and the effect that players like Wayne Rooney must have on the overseas lads must be staggering.
Like Ander says, it is a moment that he’ll be able to tell his grandkids about when he hangs up his boots. Rooney is a legend of the beautiful game, and Herrera must be so proud of being able to stand side by side with the 31-year-old.
Now, his attentions will be firmly on working hard for the new season and let’s not forget that a new captain needs to be appointed. For me, this man should be following Wayne Rooney as the next to wear the armband. What do you reckon?
