Andreas Pereira wasn’t good enough to start regular football at Man United, hence why he’d seal a move to Lazio during the transfer window.
The Brazilian would show flashes of his brilliance from time-to-time. A stunning goal against Southampton immediately springs to mind.
More often than not, though, Andreas Pereira would be outclassed by his opposite number when starting games. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recognised he’d have to go in a different direction, hence the addition of Donny van de Beek.
Serie A club Lazio would eventually make their move for Pereira. He’d join on an initial loan deal, with the Italian giants holding the option to buy the attacking midfielder outright.
Apparently, when the opportunity arose for Pereira to join Lazio, the player was ‘immediately fascinated’. It’s also claimed that the 24-year-old didn’t hesitate to ‘say yes’ when offered the transfer opportunity to sign for the Serie A outfit and leave United.
La Lazio Siamo Noi wrote that Pereira instantly began doing his homework, learning about Lazio’s best players at the club over the last 25 years; even before signing for them.
So how is Pereira getting on after leaving Man United?
Unfortunately, though, like at Old Trafford, Pereira has struggled to break into the Lazio first-team. So far, he’s started just one game across all competitions…
It’s claimed that Pereira now wants to be an ‘important’ part of Lazio’s squad, though seemingly, he’ll have to do better than what he’s currently showing.
At this stage it’s looking like Pereira will be heading back to Manchester next summer. However, there’s likely no way back for him at Old Trafford. If Lazio pass up on the chance to sign the attacker, it’ll be curious to see what sort of clubs would show an interest in acquiring his talents.
