Andreas Pereira says yes to transfer away from Man United: report

Andreas Pereira’s time at Man United could be coming to an end…

Manchester United played a behind closed doors friendly at Old Trafford yesterday, beating Burnley 3-1.

The game itself was all about building up the fitness levels, with several first-team players involved in the session ahead of the Reds’ game against Southampton this weekend.

One of the faces who wasn’t involved was Andreas Pereira. That’s because the 25-year-old United star is all set to leave the club. The story comes from TNT Sports Fred Caldeira, with the translation coming from Sport Witness.

The report states that Pereira has said ‘yes’ to a transfer away from Old Trafford, to Brazilian outfit Flamengo. That could definitely explain why Pereira wasn’t involved whatsoever against Burnley.

The midfielder spent last term on loan with Lazio in Italy, where, by all accounts, he’d do okay. However, the Serie A club didn’t want to make the move permanent, hence why Pereira would come back to United.

Pereira was firmly involved in United’s pre-season games, including scoring a blistering goal against Brentford. That said, it always felt like Pereira would go back to being a benchwarmer at the very best.

At this point, a move away for Pereira feels like the best move for all involved. Now, that looks like it’s going to materialise.

After struggling for regular starts over the last few years, perhaps a move to Brazil would be in his best interests. Flamengo represents a fantastic opportunity for Pereira to play without pressure of the European media – and at an excellent standard of football, too.

At this stage, it’s unclear whether this move would be a loan or a permanent signing, though I would imagine it’s the former as I’d doubt Flamengo would be able to afford the hefty transfer fee that United would undoubtedly demand.
